Groundhog Day January 19, 2007

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the
Union address occur on the same day. As Air America
Radio pointed out, “It is an ironic juxtaposition of
events: one involves a meaningless ritual in which we
look to a creature of little intelligence for
prognostication while the other involves a
groundhog.” fish_ico.jpg

All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
I’ve been for a walk on a Winter’s day
I’d be safe and warm if I was in L.A.
California dreamin’ on such a Winter’s day

Stopped into a church I passed along the way
Well, I got down on my knees and I pretend to pray
You know, the preacher liked the cold - he knows I’m gonna stay
California dreamin’ on such a Winter’s day

All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
I’ve been for a walk on a Winter’s day
If I didn’t tell her, I could leave today

If you’ve worked in the TV industry, like I have, you will have heard of Shoot Magazine. It is a weekly magazine that covers commercial production, post-production, special effects, and the advertising agency business. The magazine is published by VNU, a huge media conglom. They have published a web edition for a few years. I went to the site yesterday. Click this link to see what I saw.

I guess even the big guys get slammed sometimes. fish_ico.jpg
